Written by Olumide Olawemimo, IbadanBOLTON Wanderers’ defender, Danny Shittu, says he is the best defender in the English Premiership in spite of his present travails at The Reebok.
Shittu failed to play a single game for Bolton in the just ended Barclay's English Premier League, fuelling a debate on his callup to the Nigerian camp ahead of the World Cup in South Africa.
''I deserve the invitation,'' Shittu told brilafm on Friday.
''I have played different tournaments for Nigeria and come out in flying colours, I know I can be the best in the world when I play for my country. I believe the performance I put up in Angola during the Nations Cup must have impressed Lars Lagerback and I wish to prove him right,'' said Shittu.
Shittu was oustanding at the 2008 and 2010 African Nations Cups in Ghana and Angola respectively.
