Kaita's red card could be this World Cup's worst

It was hardly Zidane headbutting Materazzi in the 2006 final, but Sani Kaita's straight red card for kicking out at Vasilas Torosidis in the 33rd minute of Nigeria's 2-1 loss to Greece looks likely to be the silliest foul/sending off of this World Cup.
With Nigeria up 1-0 after an early goal, Kaita and Torosidis came together in an awkward clash as they both chased down a wayward ball and Torosidis collected it for a throw in. Torosidis made like he was going to shove the ball at Kaita, who almost reflexively kicked out at the Greek defender, grazing his leg with his foot. Well, Torosidis made the most of it and went to the ground with dramatic flair to be sure the referee saw what happened. He did and Kaita was sent off. Have a look...
Kaita immediately regretted the act and trudged off the pitch with his shirt covering his face. Greece went on to score a pair of goals while a man up - including the winner from Torosidis himself - and earned their first ever World Cup victory. And they have Kaita to thank for that.
Of course, there are a lot of matches left to go and you never know what Rino Gattuso will do under a full moon, but this could be hard to beat.

Obama Gives Part of Arizona to Mexicans

Two men shot earlier this week could be the result of the ongoing battle between Mexican drug cartels now spilling over deep into Arizona, officials say.
Pinal County investigators say an area known as the smuggling corridor now stretches from Mexico's border to metro Phoenix.
The area, once an area for family hiking and off road vehicles has government signs warning residents of the drug and human smugglers.
Night vision cameras have photographed cartel members with military arms delivering drugs to vehicles along Highway 8.
"We are three counties deep. How is it that you see pictures like these, not American with semi and fully automatic rifles. How is that okay?" asked Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu.
Babeu said he no longer has control over parts of his county.
"We are outgunned, we are out manned and we don't have the resources here locally to fight this," he said at a Friday news conference.
Five weeks ago Deputy Louie Puroll was ambushed and shot as he tracked six drug smugglers.

Sheriff Babeu said the ambush mirrored military tactics.

Beware Facebook 'hilarious video' scam

A Facebook phishing attack is on the loose this weekend -- the third widespread attack on the site in the past three weeks.
The attack attempts to steal your Facebook login credentials, install malware on your computer, and even get your home address.
The attack is spread via a "hilarious video" posted to Facebook walls, reportsWebSense -- when clicked, a form appears requesting your Facebook login.
The attack then returns you to Facebook, installs an app called "Media Player HD," and asks you to download the "FLV player" -- doing so installs malware on your machine.
It gets worse: Depending on your location, you may also be presented with a contest to win an iPad ... if you just enter your home address.
To avoid getting caught, simply remove the "hilarious video" if you find it on your Facebook wall.
If you see it elsewhere on Facebook, don't click it ... and of course remember the obvious rule: Don't enter your Facebook login anywhere other than Facebook.com.
If you already fell for the attack, change your Facebook password, uninstall the Facebook app (often called "Media Player HD"), and run a virus/malware scan on your computer.

Obama heckled again over 'don't ask, don't tell'

President Barack Obama was once again heckled by a gay rights activist over the military policy of "don't ask, don't tell" by a heckler seeking swift repeal of the policy at a fundraiser for Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA).

Kip Williams, co-founder of the activist group GetEqual, interrupted as Obama was delivering a fundraising speech for Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.). The president paused to lecture the man as other Democratic supporters booed the heckler. The "don't ask, don't tell" policy bars openly gay and lesbian soldiers from military service.

"I hate to say this, but ... if he wants to demonstrate, buy a ticket to a guy who doesn't support his point of view, and then you can yell as much as you want there," Obama said. Williams' group interrupted another Obama speech earlier this year, in Los Angeles.

Obama told Williams to "read the newspapers." "He said do it faster," the president said. "It's like, come on, man, I'm dealing with Congress here. It takes a little bit of time."

"Maybe he didn't read the newspapers, because we're working with Congress as we speak to roll back 'don't ask, don't tell,'" Obama retorted. "It's like, come on, man, I'm dealing with Congress here. It takes a little bit of time."

An agreement worked out with congressional leaders and the military would have legislators pass a measure calling for repeal of the controversial policy to kick in once the Pentagon completes a review of the matter and Obama and military leaders sign off on how to make the transition work.

A vote in Congress to roll back the policy, which bans gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military, is expected as soon as Thursday. Although the White House has expressed support for the repeal, several gay rights groups, including GetEqual, say Obama has not been outspoken enough. With Republicans largely united against a repeal, Democrats are struggling for repeal votes.
