Sharapova warms up for Roland Garros with title win

Maria Sharapova completed her French Open preparations with a straight sets win over Germany's Kristina Barrois to win the WTA tournament in Strasbourg on Saturday.
The Russian top seed was a late entry to the clay court tournament but ended the week with her second title of the year.
Sharapova has only recently returned to the circuit after an injury layoff, but gained valuable match practice for the second grand slam of the season which starts in Paris on Sunday.
Barrios was playing in her first WTA Tour final but was not overawed against her famous opponent, having the better of the early proceedings to lead 5-3 in the first set.
But former world number one Sharapova showed her fighting qualities to claim 10 of the next 11 games for a 7-5 6-1 victory.
It was the 22nd title of her career and second on clay since Amelia Island in 2008.
Meanwhile, up and coming Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru beat Chinese fifth seed Zheng Jie 6-3 6-4 to retain the title at the WTA event in Warsaw.

Sharapova scored a morale-boosting title win in Strasbourg ahead of the French Open.

Dulgheru raced into a 5-2 lead in the first set before Zheng broke back to only to lose her own service and the opener.
Zheng took a 4-2 lead in the second set but Dulgheru then strung together a run of four straight games to keep her grip on the trophy for the second year.
"Fatigue was starting to affect me and my opponent was very strong," world number 32 Dulgheru told the official WTA Tour Web site.
Dulgheru had put out Zheng's compatriot and third seed Li Na in the semifinals and will travel to Roland Garros as a dangerous outsider in the draw.
In men's tennis, Argentina won the World Team Cup for the fourth time by beating the United States 2-1 in Dusseldorf.
Juan Monaco beat Sam Querrey 1-6 6-2 6-3 before Horacio Zeballos secured the trophy with a 6-4 6-7 7-5 defeat of Robby Ginepri. The Bryan brothers then won the 'dead' doubles rubber to get the U.S. on the scoreboard.
In the ATP tournament in Nice, Richard Gasquet warmed up for his first round encounter at Roland Garros with Andy Murray by claiming the title with a 6-3 5-7 7-6 win over Spain's Fernando Verdasco.
